Tell us a little about your background and how you came to join BioAgilytix.
I did my doctoral and postdoctoral training in Cell Biology. My fascination with blood and lymphatic vessels led me to research their genetic make-up and related diseases, in hopes to find potential drug targets. During my research I trained extensively in cell-based work including but not limited to gene expression studies, intracellular signaling, cellular staining, transduction, all of which helped me build a strong foundation of transferable skills. I interviewed at BioAgilytix through Hannah Powell’s referral and subsequently joined the GMP team in 2018.
What is your current role, and how has it evolved since joining the team?
I joined the team as a Scientist II, learning the processes and regulations while contributing to the progression of various projects. Since then I have advanced into a role of Scientist III/Bioanalytical Project Manager, overseeing GMP studies involving the development and validation of potency assays, sample analysis, and cell banking.
What do you enjoy most about working in the bioanalytical field, and how are you able to see the impact of the work you do on a larger scale?
Like many others, I have always wanted to work on something that has a direct positive impact on people’s lives. Therefore, supporting the different phases of pharmaceutical drug development with the potential of saving/improving people’s lives is definitely the most gratifying aspect of working in this field.
How would you describe BioAgilytix’s company culture?
Our company culture is overall very collaborative. People are approachable and always willing to help. There’s a general understanding of working towards a common goal. In addition, our company organizes various events that are not only fun but also propagate collegiality.
What is your favorite thing, personally, about working at BioAgilytix?
BioAgilytix has become a household name in my family since both my husband and I work here. As a result both our families across 2 countries know all about the company! I have also established lifelong friendships here that I truly value. I am especially appreciative of the nature of our work and the tremendous impact it has and can have on the lives of people!
